How and when does Airbnb pay out hosts for a stay?

By the Propfina team · Published · Updated

Airbnb releases the host payout by the end of the business day after the guest’s scheduled check-in for most short stays. The bank then takes the payout method’s processing time, 3 business days on US ACH. Stays of 28 nights or more pay in monthly installments.

This is the cash calendar for a small property-management office on Guesty, AppFolio or Rentvine that keeps a few short-term listings. Pull the Earnings dashboard, last month’s Paid CSV, and the bank statement for the account Airbnb pays.

Two clocks

Release is when Airbnb sends the money. Processing is when the bank posts it. Hosts on r/airbnb_hosts call the first one “getting paid the day after check-in.” The AIRBNB lump on the statement is the second clock, and it is later.

Clock What it is Where to read it
Release Airbnb sends the payout Earnings, the scheduled send date on the row
Processing The payout method moves the cash After release, by method
Bank date The AIRBNB lump you can book The statement. Book the deposit on this date

Airbnb’s payout timing, read 2026-11-02, splits those clocks. Getting paid as a new host writes the usual release as about 24 hours after check-in. Airbnb’s resource on how you’ll get paid, dated 2026-10-13, says typically within 1 business day after check-in.

Open the reservation in Earnings. Use the scheduled send date on that row. A check-in date is the wrong match key.

When Airbnb releases the payout

Airbnb’s co-host payout help, read 2026-11-02, is the stay-by-stay clock for hosts and co-hosts.

Stay When Airbnb releases
Short stay, host with two completed stays End of the business day after scheduled check-in
Short stay, fewer than two completed stays, listing location not verified, or ongoing issues End of the business day after scheduled checkout
Monthly stay, 28 nights or more First month by the end of the business day after scheduled check-in. Later months, monthly
Monthly stay, new host, unverified listing, or ongoing issues First installment 28 days after scheduled check-in. Later months, monthly
Review for fraud or compliance Up to 45 days after check-in, paused, or removed

Payouts for monthly stays, read 2026-11-02, is the 28-night rule. Airbnb charges the guest the first month up front, then collects the rest in monthly installments. New hosts move to the regular clock by verifying the listing’s location.

Example, not a real office. Established host, short stay, US ACH. Guest checks in Wednesday. Airbnb releases Thursday. Three ACH business days are Friday, Monday, and Tuesday, so the bank line is around Tuesday. A Friday check-in waits for the next business day to release, then those same 3 business days, so the lump often lands the following week.

How long the bank then takes

After release, processing depends on the payout method. Airbnb’s timing help, read 2026-11-02, lists typical times:

Payout method Typical time after release
Fast Pay 30 minutes or less, US, weekends included
Pay to card 30 minutes or less, eligible regions
Payoneer Prepaid Debit Mastercard Within 24 hours, weekends included
PayPal Within one business day
Western Union One business day, by country
ACH, USA and Puerto Rico 3 business days
Bank account 3 to 5 business days
International wire 3 to 7 business days

A property-management trust account is almost always ACH or a bank account. Fast Pay is a US debit-card option. Fast Pay help, read 2026-11-02, takes 1.5 percent of each payout, capped at $15 USD.

Banking systems skip weekends and holidays. Fast Pay and Payoneer still send. On r/airbnb_hosts in June 2025, one host wrote Thursday check-in, Friday release, weekend sit, Monday processed, Tuesday usable. On r/airbnb_hosts in October 2025, Superhosts still waiting a week were pointed at the bank hold, 2 to 3 days after Airbnb’s “we sent a payout” mail.

How long payout methods take to be ready, read 2026-11-02, puts a new ACH method at 5 to 7 business days of Pending before it can receive anything. Once it is ready, paused payouts release within 24 hours if nothing else is blocking them.

What the payout is

Airbnb’s payout formula, read 2026-11-02, is nightly rate plus extra charges, cleaning and extra-guest among them, minus the host service fee and any co-host share. That net should equal the bank line.

Hosts on property-management software sit on the single-fee structure. Most of those hosts pay 15.5 percent, taken from the payout, read 2026-11-02. Read the Airbnb service fee line on the earning. How to record Airbnb host fees and cleaning fees in QuickBooks Online is those two lines.

Find your earnings, read 2026-11-02, says several listings with reservations that start on the same day may pay out together as one row. One AIRBNB lump, several doors. How to download the Paid CSV is that file. How to reconcile Airbnb payouts in QuickBooks Online is the split.

Occupancy tax Airbnb already remitted never hits the payout. Airbnb’s tax-collection help, read 2026-11-02, says remittance does not change the host payout. Tax paid out to you to remit does sit in the lump. This is not tax advice. Check the listing, the agency, and your CPA.

Co-host shares leave this host’s bank. The listing owner does not get the co-host’s transaction history. Each login downloads its own Paid CSV.

What holds or shortens a payout

Hold What Airbnb does What the office does
Upcoming still sitting Not released yet Leave unmatched
New host, unverified listing After checkout, or 28 days on a monthly stay Verify location, then wait for Paid
Payout method Pending Nothing sends Wait until Default. ACH takes 5 to 7 business days to be ready
Minimum payout amount Holds until the total clears the floor. Default is $1 USD Minimum payout help, read 2026-11-02. A $100 floor batches several stays
Adjustment Cancellation, reservation change, or Guest Refund Policy taken from the next payout Adjustment help, read 2026-11-02. Put it on that later deposit
Taxpayer info missing Withhold a percentage, or block payouts Host taxes and payouts, read 2026-11-02
Review Up to 45 days after check-in Leave unmatched until Paid

A guest cancellation refunds per the listing’s policy and takes any remainder from future payouts (guest-cancel help, read 2026-11-02). On r/airbnb_hosts in July 2026 a month-long stay sat in a fraud-detection review after check-in.

If listings run through Guesty, Guesty’s Airbnb payout article, read 2026-11-02, says a short-term payout can take 72 hours to show, and a co-host split leaves Guesty seeing only the host share. Guesty’s table uses 30 days for long-term installments. Airbnb’s own clock is 28 nights. Use Airbnb’s Earnings row when the two disagree. How to match Guesty payouts to bank deposits in QuickBooks is the GuestyPay lump.

Routing rules split a listing across payout methods, and they apply to future payouts only (routing help, read 2026-11-02). A rule added after the booking will not move this stay.

What this does to owner statements

The guest paid Airbnb at booking. Cash in the trust account arrives after check-in, then after ACH. Mixed long-term and short-term books in one trust account is the post once the lump lands. Book on the bank date. A check-in-month filter on the CSV misses the lag.

Upcoming is still Airbnb’s money. Paid plus the bank line is cash you can allocate. Hold the owner draw until then.

Airbnb wins the payout calendar and the Paid CSV. Guesty wins reservation-level payout status, with up to 72 hours to sync. QuickBooks Online wins the two-way rec your CPA already knows. AppFolio, Rentvine and Buildium still win owner ledgers and the three-way trust rec on long-term doors.

Someone still has to open Earnings, wait for Paid, and date the deposit to the bank.

How to tell this week is closed

Every reservation that already checked in is Paid, or it has a written reason it is still Upcoming: new-host clock, monthly installment, weekend, or a review. Every AIRBNB bank line has a Paid group that equals the statement to the cent. Owner draws waited for Paid.

Pull this week’s Earnings dashboard, the Paid CSV for the bank-statement dates, and the bank statement for the account Airbnb pays. Match the first unmatched AIRBNB lump from those three. They already exist.
